Baked Orange Chicken Wings

It's football season and I'm actually paying attention this year. I can thank Fantasy Football for that. I happen to be an extremely competitive person and this whole Thursday, Sunday and Monday thing is giving me reason to throw football game gatherings while making sure I'm #1 every week (3-0 so far!). I've been thinking about making Baked Orange Chicken Wings since before W.A.L.T. was even born and now this is my chance. I served this last Sunday and I'd say it was the highlight of the night, especially since every top player decided to get hurt. Baked or fried - you can't go wrong with the delicious Orange Chicken taste!

Baked Orange Chicken Wings
Prep Time: 20 Minutes / Cook Time: 50-60 Minutes / Serving Size: 10-16

Ingredients:

  • 4 Lbs. Prepped Chicken Wings
  • 1/2 Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Pepper
  • 2 Cups Orange Juice
  • 4 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 4 Tbsp Honey
  • 3 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, Minced
  • 1 Inch Ginger, Peeled
  • 2 Tsp Corn Starch, plus more
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 1 Tbsp White Sesame Seeds
  • 2 Stalks of Green Onion, Thinly Sliced
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Put the prepped chicken wings into a large bowl. Add olive oil, salt and pepper and mix with a large spoon.

Line two baking sheets with foil and top with a cooking rack. Lay the chicken in a single layer.

Place in oven and bake for 50-60 minutes until golden and crispy.

While the chicken bakes, start on the sauce.

Pour the orange juice into a measuring cup and add in soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, salt, red pepper flakes, garlic cloves and ginger.

Place in large non-stick pan over medium heat.

Stir the cornstarch in with water and add to orange mixture.

Stir occasionally until thick. Add 1/2 tsp of cornstarch at a time if not thickening. Sauce will take 15-25 minutes.

Once the chicken and sauce is done, add to bowl and mix.

Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Place in serving bowl and garnish with green onions. Serve!
